Beyond the daily life of BIS, students are encouraged to join our social activities programme.
These may be dances and special celebration days or opportunities to attend cultural events such as theatre and museum excursions.
All students, except those who have been suspended from school for more than 2 days, may attend these activities but parents are expected to meet all costs, however minimal.
We continually review our social programme:
- to welcome new arrivals and provide support and guidance to leavers
- to provide the right balance of autonomy and structure which ensures that our students feel respected and secure
- to encourage each student to understand the meaning of self-discipline and responsible behaviour, to exhibit respect and tolerance towards others and be able to appreciate other people's points of view
- to enable students to develop their own reasoned views on personal and moral issues
- to ensure respect for the opinions and values of others whilst fostering the need for critical evaluation and debate
- to enable our students to work successfully both independently and as part of a team
- to provide individual students with opportunities to pursue and develop extra-curricular activities
- to involve parents and provide them with the information they need to play a real part in the schooling of their children
