The visit to the Ball Corporation - British International School

Yesterday, students studying Business and Economics, year 11 and year 13 visited the Ball Packaging Europe Belgrade plant in Zemun. They were shown a presentation about the company history, key performance indicators and future developments. Students were then shown around Ball’s plant facilities where they witnessed first hand the production process of aluminium cans for various drinks and beverages. Their attention was particularly focused on health and safety regulations, lean methods of production, recycling and green field investment.

Ball Packaging Europe is one of the leading beverage can producers in Europe. A wholly-owned subsidiary of  Ball Corporation, an international producer of high quality packaging, Ball Packaging Europe reported turnover of  EUR 1.2 billion in 2009 and has 3,000 employees. With an annual capacity of some 14 billion units and a market share of around 30 %, Ball Packaging Europe is the number 2 in the European beverage can market. Twelve production plants are situated in close proximity to clients in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands,  Poland and Serbia. Ball Packaging Belgrade, started as a green field investment in 2005, and currently employs some 250 employees.
