As part of their study of the History of Flight the students from Year 3 made their long awaited visit to this special museum. The museum, a huge glass dome, has a huge variety of machines which we’d only seen so far in books and on the computer. We saw early bi-planes with bicycle wheels, gliders, warplanes, helicopters, jets and even an early simulator!
The oldest machine we saw was 100 years old this year. It was a wooden propeller machine with a basket seat for the pilot! The newest was an Eagle jet.
As a final treat, Dan let the children sit in the cockpit of one of the airplanes and move the joystick and rudders.
The trip was altogether interesting with something for everyone to enjoy.
