The beginning of the new school year at British International School of Belgrade (BIS) was marked by the traditional gathering of new students, their parents, teachers and members of the school community at the school’s Dedinje campus. More than 100 parents and students attended the New Parent and Student Welcome BBQ, an event through which BIS traditionally welcomes the new academic year and gives new families the opportunity to discover the school beyond the classroom.
The Head of School, Robert Robinson, welcomed the guests and spoke about the values of British education and the importance of belonging to an international school community. With informal conversations, a selection of local food and drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere, the evening provided an opportunity to get to know one another and establish the first connections that will play an important role throughout the school year.
For new families, the event was an opportunity to learn more about BIS, meet teachers and gain a better understanding of everyday school life. For teachers, the gathering was equally valuable, allowing them to meet the parents of the students with whom they will work closely throughout the year. Open communication between students, families and the school is an essential part of BIS culture.
The warm atmosphere, strong attendance and positive feedback from parents once again demonstrated the importance of beginning the school year not only with the first lesson, but also with a genuine sense of welcome and belonging to a community where education, mutual trust and collaboration develop together.
