Our Extra-curricular basketball club recently took part in the BC “Postar” Basketball tournament held at the club’s courts, as the part of the “Let’s keep the children safe” Project.
BIS entered two teams in the tournament in the Year 4/5 and Year 6 categories. Both teams lost their first game but then after a little last minute coaching began an amazing unbeaten run. Neither team lost another game for the rest of the tournament. The furious man to man defence that both teams implemented produced exceptional results. Our opponents found it almost impossible to score and even found it difficult to pass the ball out from underneath their own basket.
In the final match of the Year 6 category, the scores were level after an amazing backboard shot by Tara V. With five seconds left on the clock Thomas S took a final shot that would eventually decide the destiny of the silverware. As the ball floated in the air towards the basket the eyes of everyone in the crowd followed its trajectory towards the rim. A few seconds later an eruption of elation followed as the BIS team realized that they had won the ‘International School’ category of the tournament in both the Year 4/5 and Year 6 age groups.
Mr Davies was very happy to collect the trophies on behalf of his teams and made a small speech thanking the organizers of the competition.
