BIS students organized the international conference BISMUN 2026 - British International School

The British International School in Belgrade hosted the international BISMUN 2026 (Model United Nations) conference, organized by the school’s students. This prestigious educational event brings together high school students from different countries who, through a simulation of the United Nations, take on the roles of diplomats and state delegates, discuss contemporary global challenges, and seek possible solutions through reasoned debate.

The BISMUN conference is one of the most significant student activities within international education, as this format helps young people develop public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills, as well as a better understanding of international relations and global politics. At the opening ceremony, representatives of international institutions and the diplomatic corps addressed the audience, including Dr. Dominika Krois, the representative of the UN Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Office in Belgrade, Polona Košič, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Belgrade, and Dominic Otway, Deputy Head of Mission of the United Kingdom in Serbia.

The conference is dedicated to the topics of diplomacy in the modern world, the importance of dialogue and international cooperation, and the role of young people in addressing global challenges.
